This body of work as a whole is a tidal wave of visual enquiry into the phenomenological qualities and characteristics of light, leading up to the making of a short concept film in which ideas of multidimensionality, materiality, and temporal awareness are triggered by the modulation, reflection and movement of light

The practical research was conducted intuitively, allowing each test to organically lead to the next as a continuous rippling response to the subject matter. The experiments start with mirror materials (mirrors), moving into augmentations using acetate (uv hyperstructures) and the distortion of projected light through water (fluids), glass, acrylic, perspex and latex (refractors).

Finally, a short video (see below) was made using detail footage of the final installation experiment, config.4b (0°). In it, light becomes material within space in the same way as paint on canvas. Through layering and levels adjustments, the footage is altered in line with ruminations on materiality, illusory perception and balance through opposition. What is the true antithesis of light, and and what kind of dance could be composed by their visual and temporal entanglement?
